Kaffe is a coffee table crafted from reclaimed white cedar and solid tzalam, combining two fine woods with distinctive character and presence.
The design celebrates the material's natural history rather than concealing it. Variations in the grain, repaired knots, and preserved imperfections remain visible throughout the piece, allowing the wood to tell its own story.
A hand-cut, bow-shaped inlay bridges a natural crack in the cedar's surface, transforming a structural repair into a defining design element. Additional wood inserts reinforce areas shaped by growth and the passage of time, creating subtle contrasts on the surface.
Constructed using a combination of traditional and contemporary joinery techniques, Kaffe balances warmth, durability, and visual restraint. The result is a piece designed to age gracefully and become part of the everyday rituals that surround it.
A study in repair, material memory, and permanence.
