Some objects are made. This one was found.
A dead jacaranda outside the university where Álvaro teaches was coming down. Most people walked past. He asked if he could take some of it home. What the chainsaw left behind, the lathe revealed spalting lines, worm trails, live edge voids that record the tree's outer life in its final years. None of it was planned. All of it is irreplaceable.
At nearly 24 centimeters wide and 13 centimeters deep, this bowl has volume, weight, and authority. It holds fruit. It holds a room's attention. Finished with Osmo oil and pure beeswax, the surface invites touch as much as sight. Signed by the maker. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity documenting its origin, material, and dimensions.
It was made once. It will not be repeated.
Care: wipe clean with a damp cloth. Refresh with beeswax once a year. Not dishwasher safe.
