Kumu explores the relationship between material and sound through a form built entirely from solid wood and traditional joinery.
Developed in walnut and mahogany, the enclosure combines two hardwoods with distinct character and tone, allowing the natural warmth of the materials to become part of the listening experience itself. A solid brass volume control introduces a subtle contrast in texture, while the woven front grille, produced by artisans in central Mexico, brings a tactile layer that softens the geometry of the piece.
Designed as both an audio device and a permanent object for the home, Kumu is intended to remain visible rather than hidden among cables and electronics. Its proportions, materials, and construction celebrate the idea that technology can age gracefully when paired with craftsmanship and natural materials.
